Wilbur Wild Goose Chase
5K run/walk
8:00am
Wilbur, WA
Information and Entry Form: http://www.wilburwa.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Goose-Chase-Form-2018.pdf
Here is note from Steve Jones:
This is the Goose Chase's 40th year. It was started because Race Director, Gil Sheffels, wanted to replicate as best he could the Bloomsday spirit in Wilbur. Like a lot of small town races it has seen it's numbers dwindle over the years. I for one hate to see that happen because there is just something so charming about these events. In Wilbur, for example, there is a great breakfast at a church probably 50 feet from the finish line and, of course, the famous pie feed at the Senior Citizen Center. All this is followed by a parade which features all sorts of things like farm equipment, old cars and the Wilbur band. It is small enough that it goes down one side of the street and then comes back on the other.
The race is Saturday, May 19 starting at 8:00 am. Wilbur is about an hour and a half west of Spokane on Highway 2, as you probably know, so you have to leave a little early, but it is a great time of day to be up and about.
This is worth a trip to Wilbur for the experience of a small town race and accompanying community celebration. You won't regret it.
Steve Jones
