Mile one takes you out of the stadium area and onto Northwest Blvd. The course follows Northwest Blvd, and at mile 2.6 takes right turn onto T.J. Meenach Drive and onto a steep downhill that takes you to a ramp at mile 3. The course takes another right turn on to Downriver Drive, mile 3 through mile 8 follow the Spokane River as it flows Downstream. Mile 4.5 through 8 are in Riverside State Park. The Park Ranger has asked runners while running in the park please stay in the right hand lane. The park road will be open to vehicle traffic. At mile 6 you pass Bowl and Pitcher Campground with its magnificent rock formations and footbridge.

Mile 8 starts a gradual climb that gets a bit challenging as you approach mile 9.
