Thanks to your input, a lot of volunteers, and the help of our sponsors – Mazda, Brooks, Yoke’s, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, Quaker State, and others—on September 11
th
, we’ll roll out a second year of the new and improved Sundae Sunday! Here’s what you told us: You wanted better Overall and Age Group Prizes! You got it. This year’s Sundae Sunday will have a prize pool of $1,000 for First through Third Place in Men’s and Women’s Open and Masters categories plus course record-setters, AND custom trophies for Overall winners and top three Age Group finishers! You demanded better T-Shirts for Finishers! Thanks to our sponsor, Brooks Athletics, this year’s race will feature long-sleeve, micro-fiber Brooks CoolTex shirts (without a lot of unsightly advertising)! Plus, we’ve got special t-shirts for our volunteers! You Screamed for Real Ice Cream! Sundae Sunday 2005 will again feature real Blue Bunny gourmet ice cream served from the Blue Bunny trailer, courtesy of our sponsor Yoke’s Fresh Markets! Plus, even spectators will receive complimentary sundaes, just for cheering runners across the finish line! You wanted better Post-Race Festivities! As runners cross the finish line—cookies, oranges, and bananas will await in the finishers’ tent. You’ll enjoy your ice cream and the awards presentation sitting on the grass, listening to a real live band! Plus a lot of other great distractions, including prize drawings and car displays. And no "death by awards presentation"—we’ll keep it moving! You told us Not to Mess with a Great Tradition! You said not to change the things that have made this a great running/walking event for decades. So we’ve kept the same beautiful, but challenging course, and plan the same great volunteer support (with your help), and those same friendly faces at the finish! HOW CAN YOU HELP MAKE IT A SUCCESS? Show your support for a new, improved Sundae Sunday Ten Miler by registering today (see this Race Rag for an entry), or plan on volunteering (Call Race Director Joan Pribnow at 624-4297 or e-mail her, at the address below). As a sponsor this year, I can tell you personally that your input and thanks to event sponsors will make it a lot easier to get sponsorships in the future (entry fees alone won’t make races like this happen)! Hint—buy Blue Bunny Ice Cream, shop at Yoke’s, buy Brooks athletic wear, and get your Zoom-Zoom from Foothills Mazda, and let them know WHY you are doing it! See you Sunday! WE NEED INFO ON COURSE RECORDS! Help—our records are incomplete! Because we are offering prize money for course records this year, we need accurate information on standing marks. Do you have documentation on old races? Here’s what we have as of now. Email us with info:
